|Children are the future of mankind. However, they are the ones who are mostly rendered homeless with no one to love or be loved, with no one to take care of their basic needs like food and shelter, let alone provide them education and care. Some of them cannot ever experience what having one’s family feels like, since they are made homeless soon after their birth…. such can be the cruelty of fate at times. It is these children we see on the streets; begging, being exploited or taking to drugs and crimes in sheer desperation or out of necessity.
It is a fact that children brought up in a healthy and happy environment along with good education, grow up to be better human beings and consequently better citizens, thereby contributing more to the society in general. Our concern is these unfortunate children – to provide them with the basics of life, i.e. a home, education, love and affection, and above all an existence with dignity, to try and make up for some of the joys of childhood lost on them and to give them hope for the future, so that they may not just survive but live life, like their more fortunate brethren.
Nobody doubts the good intention of the donors, travelers, and volunteers who give time or money to orphanages. It is natural and right to care about poor and vulnerable children, wherever they are in the world. But what if this support was actually part of the problem, not the solution? What if orphanage and donations were fueling the demand for “orphans”, and so driving the unnecessary separation of children from their families? In India, as in much of the developing world, orphanages are a problem, not a solution.
Shiya Girls Yateem Khana was founded by Moulana Israr Haider Murtazavi Qummi in 2008 and there are 45 orphan girls taken care in this orphanage. As a registered Non-Governmental Organisation, our mission is to provide shelter, nutrition, safety, healthcare, and a long-term education to orphaned children at risk. It is our hope to provide an environment which offers an opportunity to excel and rise above the tremendous obstacles life has put before them.
We are a non-profit orphanage which is totally depend on the public donation funds. Our step is to bring orphan girls into the real guardian life. We introduced girls orphanage in 2008 and the mission works hard to provide a loving home and family for every child in its care working hard to promote family relationships and impart a spirit of responsibility in every member of the organization.
Although family is the ideal solution to the orphan crisis, we understand that it’s not an immediate option for most children globally. That’s why we believe our place in the ever-evolving landscape of orphan care is to support orphanages and children’s homes. We do whatever it takes to rescue struggling homes from failure or destitution, because we know failure isn’t an option when the lives of children rest in your hands. We come alongside partner homes with training opportunities to raise their standards of care, because we believe every child has a right to a safe and nurturing childhood. And we provide the means for our orphanages to pursue self-sustainability, because we want more for them than mere survival
